Memla’s design weaves a series of restorative outdoor environments through the site, connecting medical, residential and childcare uses within a cohesive landscape framework.

At ground level, a layered sequence of gardens, terraces and active play spaces provides diverse opportunities for social interaction, therapy and recreation. A carefully detailed childcare landscape incorporates nature-based play elements including timber structures, dry creek beds and rubber softfall zones, encouraging sensory engagement and imaginative play  . These spaces are anchored by generous planting and shaded seating, creating a safe and legible environment for younger users.

For residents, secure terraces and communal gardens extend internal living areas outdoors, supporting passive recreation and social connection. Upper level communal terraces and rooftop play areas introduce elevated green spaces, maximising access to light, views and fresh air within a dense built form  .

A robust material palette of bluestone paving, coloured concrete, timber decking and permeable softfall surfaces is paired with a predominantly native planting scheme, ensuring durability, seasonal variation and long-term sustainability  .
